Reason for Recognition? I had the opportunity to visit with a patient after Valarie completed an INR visit with her this morning. She only had positives to say about how Val treated her during her visit! The patient stated she had some concerns about Covid and you were able to make her feel comfortable about starting to get out into the public and keeping her social distancing. She stated you were respectful, listened carefully to her and explained her care in a way she could understand. The patient was holding her instruction sheet with her calendar and daily dosing which she stated is very important to her even though she knows the dose did not change. She felt you spent enough time with her. Nice to see you introduce yourself in the waiting room and walking her back to the waiting room after her visit.

The patient verbalized understanding of wearing a mask and feels very comfortable with having staff wear the protective gear here. She stated “I am very very happy to have this place here for us. I use it frequently.”

Great care Val! Thank you for providing excellent care to our patients in our community!

Reason for Recognition? Missy has been great at helping the inpatient rehab team cope with the changes due to COVID-19! Missy brings people water, is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it, and has been great at disinfecting the rehab office. Reason for Recognition? Thanks for the extra training in phlebotomy so you can draw labs too! This helps in infection prevention, minimizes PPE use, and increases efficiency. Drawing labs off of IV starts in ER and Outpatient Services has always helped the whole patient experience and lab is thankful for that too! You guys are doing awesome!

Reason for Recognition? I would like to recognize Sarah Paulsen for going above and beyond today! She took the initiative to create an educational folder to share with her fellow nurses regarding a new role that has been developed due to COVID. She had a smile on her face through the whole day, being the first nurse to work in this role and having to troubleshoot some issues. She even saw some patients outside of her scheduled role. Sarah is a wonderful team player and showed great leadership today!
