FirstLight athletic trainer duties expand at Hinckley-Finlayson
September 17, 2015
Terry Bullock for the Hinckley News
Hinckley-Finlayson High School (HFHS) Activities Director, Bonnie Scullard, announced the school would enter into its second year with an expanded FirstLight Health Systems athletic trainer program.
Athletic trainer Lisa Stobierski works with rehabilitation services through FirstLight in Mora. She is typically in the HFHS training room Mondays and Wednesdays and covers home football games. She will also be covering home basketball games and track meets. Lisa is part of a group of six trainers FirstLight has dedicated to this program. It covers not only HFHS but Rush City, Pine City, Mora, East Central, and Ogilvie high schools. Lisa primarily splits her time between Hinckley, Rush City and East Central. FirstLight’s Dr. Thomas Mullin is the orthopedic team physician for each of the schools, treating sports-related injuries. Athletic training services include injury prevention and rehabilitation, emergency care, strength and conditioning and concussion management.
When asked about where she was from, her response was, “I am from Cleveland, but I spent the last two years in Phoenix, Ariz. while completing my masters in athletic training at A.T. Still University. I moved here only a month ago. Yes, it is quite a change in climates. But, I figured to move somewhere new while I have the chance and I was fortunate enough to find great opportunities with FirstLight. I am excited to be getting involved in the local communities, and working with the kids at various high schools. I enjoy sharing athletic training at the high school level. It is becoming more and more apparent that medical coverage is not only beneficial but also necessary, and I am glad to be a part of bringing athletic training to many of these schools. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially while it is still warm(ish) and staying in shape.”
She is also a Buckeye Fan and when asked about the Browns she responded, “Of course I am a Browns fan, but I find that quite troubling.” We feel her pain with the Vikings.
Please take the time to give a warm welcome to FirstLight Health Systems Lisa Stobierski.
