SkyWarn Press Release

SKYWARN

Kanabec County Emergency Management encourages anyone interested in weather to become an official and trained weather spotter by attending the:

SKYWARN® class being held on Thursday, April 21st from 6:00 to 8:30pm
at the Kanabec County Jail Training Room
(located behind the Courthouse) 100 North Vine Street, Mora, MN 55051

Kanabec County Emergency Management, in conjunction with the National Weather Service’s SKYWARN® program provides FREE 2-hour training to volunteers in the community who help identify and report severe weather including large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.

Current SKYWARN® spotters are asked to attend training at least every 4 years in order to refresh their training.

SKYWARN® spotters help the National Weather Service issue timely and accurate warnings to protect lives and property. There can be no finer reward than to know that their efforts have given communities the precious gift of time, which can help save lives.

Anyone who spends time outdoors, whether working, camping, fishing, golfing, or hiking will also benefit from a SKYWARN® class. Public safety personnel are also encouraged to attend SKYWARN® training.

Post Credits are available for this class.
To ensure there are enough materials to go around,
PLEASE RSVP BY: TUESDAY APRIL 19TH  to:

Kate Mestnik (320) 679-6317, Kanabec County Emergency Management, 905 East Forest Avenue, Suite 127, Mora, MN 55051
