National Social Work Month

March was national social work month!! We are BLESSED to have a robust social work team at Welia that provides an abundant of services to so many departments and patients within our facility and our community. They literally touch so many places and spaces.

Our dedicated social work team works with every department at Welia provides assistance and support to not only our patients and community, but also Welia staff. They are a part of multiple committees and support groups.

Their world is grey, and they don’t mind answering calls from community members, patients, and employees inquiring about any resource or service they may need!! Give them an extra high five the next time you come across them!

Thank you, Jennifer Peterson, Lori McKee, Haley Hemmerich, Curt Robinson, and Amelia Laman – Welia appreciates YOU!

Safe Patient Handling Announcement

An important reminder form the Patient Handling Committee:

Your body is an important tool needed to do your job well.

  • DON’T risk an injury when it is not needed
  • Remember it is ok to “speak up” if you are asked to do an unsafe transfer
  • Check the algorithms located in the Patient Handling Plan if you are unsure about using the equipment.  Patient handling equipment is there to help you and your patients
  • One last thing, don’t forget to complete your annual education.

Safety Storm Alpha has great patient handling information that we can all use right now!
