Cancer Fundraiser a Success!

This past Saturday September 9th, FirstLight staff hosted a game on hole #4 on Springbrook Golf Course in Mora as a service event to raise money for cancer.  At the same time we were able to boast about our new 3D mammography machine, promoting early detection and breast cancer prevention.

Our game this year was BRA PONG!  No golf club required!  We raised a record $840 for our local cancer chapter.

Volunteers at this event were:  Kate Olson, Jen Bonde, Tracy Havel, Bryanna Lindahl, Karen Renaud and Deb Wright.  Thanks so much for the fun energy and spirit throughout the day!

And special thanks to Katie Koppy, Kim Tepley and Brett Anderson for their creative input on the game.  It was a hit!

Pine City Arts Festival-Thank You VOLUNTEERS!

Employees served water and lemonade packets to community members attending the Pine City Arts Festival in Robinson’s Park this past Saturday, July 15th. Saturday marked the 40th anniversary of the art festival. The day was filled with music, arts and crafts, exhibitors, food, fun and sun.

A special thanks to Michelle Vork, Juanita Lietz, Theresa Hecht, Jackie Haglund, and Laurie Haney for volunteering at this service event. What a great way to represent FirstLight by serving water on a hot and steamy day. Thank you!

Please review the latest version of the Community Service Calendar. These opportunities are a great way to show that FirstLight employees want to make a positive impact in the community. Most of the events allow family members to help as well.

The Community Service Committee meets the second Monday of every month, from 11:00am-12:00am, to plan and coordinate events.

Community Service Members are: Pam Novak, Melissa Merrick, Sue Belford, Kim Tepley, Anna Schultz, Melissa Peterson, Heather Sanftner, Jen Hansen, Danna Woods, and Deb Wright.

Thank you ColorSplash5k Volunteers!

The ColorSplash5k on Saturday, June 3rd had a total of 425 race participants!   The sun was shining, great music was playing, and runners and walkers were coming across the finish line full of color.  I heard one participant say as she crossed the finish line, “this was the best race yet!”

Our youngest participant was a 2 month old being pushed in a stroller and our oldest participant was 83 years young.  Our largest team was the Frahm Fam with 23 team members.

Check out this list of employee volunteers that helped make this event a success:

 Thanks everyone!

Food Drive Update

The Wellness Coordinator is getting buried in FOOD!

So far we have collected a total of 276 pounds of food, toiletries and paper products for local food pantries.  We only have 8 more days to beat our last year’s total of 550 pounds.  WE CAN DO IT!

If you plan on grocery shopping over the next week, check out the item(s) assignment for your department and pick up a few things for the food drive.  Departments were given a particular item to donate to help meet the highest needs of the food pantries but ANY donation will be accepted!  Bring in items by March 31st.
